The Pomegranate’s Price

On the same hills that were once lush with passion
Broken vows and empty promises litter the barren land
Vastly more lonely than the future she had imagined
Lacking even the touch of he who asked for her hand
Tricked by potential of unsown seeds of bittersweet fruit
Not sure why she spoke the words to become his wife
Behind fading love she uncovers honest lying roots
She hesitantly asked "Is this man worth half my life?"
She rages against the current to her second coming
Refusing to join the many souls drifting to their slaughter
Making him dance with the devil of your twisting cunning
Not as his dark queen but as Mother Nature's Daughter
