A Promise Never Spoken

Oh how I remember, remember our promise
A promise that bursts out of a child mouth
Oh how I remember, intoxicating truths
A promise that this was more, always more
Now I see we were in the fountain of youth
And youth had it's way with us
Surrounding us were all the forces of nature
The waters beneath us raged
The sky wept
Oh the iridescent strikes masked above
We existed only inside a moment for a moment
We did not see beyond each other's eyes
Oh how I remember the feeling
The feeling when two ripples collide
Oh how I remember our promise
A promise expressed but never spoken
It remained young
It lives only in this reverie
Our bodies fought us as we tried to leave it behind
Muscles twist and tie as we return to the world
Collapsing onto the soothing slab
The impact gave way to the beauty hidden beneath
I could pay it no mind
For a moment in a moment
I was yours and you were mine
The dull gnawing of our bodies faded
But the feeling never did
