If only I had a guide for this rocky mountain pass

Betrayal a young mind grudgingly wanted to forgive
Became afflictions I sought home remedies to outlive
Lack of compassion branded me for your crime
Quartered sense of self defined my paradigm
This map of meaning led me stumbling deep into a haze
Unaware darker years awaited these darker days
